This site provides background, analysis and updates on the process and progress of Puerto Rico’s first Economic Development District (EDD). As a pilot program, these efforts are breaking new ground and will serve to inform future efforts.
Documenting the research leading up to the launch of the pilot, the steps taken in the process of applying for an EDD designation and the data and input collected from regional stakeholders are all essential to providing transparency about the Pilot EDD to all Puerto Ricans, and especially to the residents, businesses and community organizations located in the six municipalities (Guánica, Yauco, Guayanilla, Peñuelas, Ponce and Juana Díaz) included in the pilot.
This website will also facilitate a 30-day period when the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) report will be posted and available for public review and comment. The pilot’s strategic leadership team is committed to keeping this site up to date during the 30-day public review and comment period and until a final Economic Development Action Plan (EDAP) is posted.
